Wearable Art Awards
The perfect blend of art, fashion, design, imagination and performance, the Wearable Art Awards inspire designers and artists to get art off the wall and onto the human body. Wearable Art is an international phenomenon with works being created out of virtually anything. From leaves and feathers to tyres and beer cans; recycled wedding dresses or curtains, the competition inspires designers to create without limit. It can be tied, dyed, torn, folded, stapled, glued, sewn or threaded. Talents of local and interstate artists and designers will be on display to inspire the audience to think outside of the box. Categories prompt competitors to think about creating hats, using natural fibres (anything from cotton to leaves), using recycled objects and the ultimate challenge – see if our masters of wearable art can create a piece using only the materials given to them and designed to fit within a guiding theme! The challenge has been set and we can’t wait to see what the local and interstate talent will bring to this year’s show!
